Cryogenic Perlite for Industrial Cold Storage

Supreme Perlite cryogenic grade expanded perlite products are ultra-low-density grades of expanded perlite designed for insulating double-wall containment vessels and cold-boxes used to store gases such as LNG, oxygen, and hydrogen in condensed liquid form.

Due to the high pressures and low temperatures involved, cryogenic storage vessels and equipment must be insulated to prevent loss of energy and efficiency and prevent condensation from accumulating on internal parts, which could lead to corrosion.

Expanded cryogenic grade perlite performs these functions perfectly and is the standard by which all large storage tanks and cold-boxes are insulated. Cryogenic grade expanded perlite has a high insulating U-value, low thermal conductivity value, flows evenly into the storage cavity and takes the shape of its container, and being derived from a mineral, it is non-flammable and inherently fire resistant.

Expanded cryogenic grade perlite is available in different packaging, but mainly comes in bulk super sacks, or is delivered in bulk tankers. It can be either poured into the cavity from an access port or conveyed from ground level with pneumatic pumping equipment.
