Perlite Filter Aids

Perlite Filter Aids
Perlite Filter Aids (PFAs) are fine-grained or powdered perlite products produced for the express purpose of separating particulate and impurities suspended in liquids using pressure or vacuum filtration equipment.
PFAs are an essential part of many filtration systems because they improve performance and efficiency, facilitate cleanup and disposal, reduce downtime, and are economical relative to more expensive technologies.
PFAs are used to form a thick, but still porous, layer before the screen which filters out impurities while protecting the life of the screen, keeping the screen from becoming blinded or clogged with particulate, and dewatering the original sludge, making it fit for disposal.
PFAs are an ideal material for this purpose. Expanded perlite is naturally sterilized during the heating process. It is safe to use and dispose and won’t harm the environment. It is pH-balanced, chemically inert, non-toxic and generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for food contact.
Perlite Filter Aids are acceptable for food contact as described in the U.S. Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) and will not impart an aftertaste to the liquids passed through them, which could otherwise impact the flavor of beverages such as juice, beer, wine, liquor, syrup, edible oils or pharmaceuticals.
Versatile Industrial Solutions
While the applications are endless, Perlite Filter Aids are widely used for industrial wastewater treatment, to separate impurities, and dewater solids prior to disposal. This is essential for:
- Protecting freshwater resources
- Sewer or stormwater sediment control
- Lowering the cost of disposal
- Recovering useful minerals and nutrients from waste streams
Common industrial applications include commercial laundry services, stone and tile cutting, metal plating, water treatment, quarry tailings, and more.
Benefits of Perlite Filter Aid
- Sterile
- pH-neutral
- Chemically inert
- Non-toxic, won’t harm the environment
- Safe for food contact
- Lightweight, economical to dispose
- Protects and restores precious freshwater resources

Perlite Baghouse Precoat
Perlite Baghouse Precoat is an ultra-fine powder used to coat fabric filter socks used in baghouse exhaust systems. Perlite coats the surface of the fibers in a fine protective layer, protecting the fabric from abrasion, high heat, and sticky substances which can lead to clogging, or premature failure of the filter socks. The combined effect is to improve the efficiency of the baghouse, reduce downtime and costly replacement of the filter socks, and improve air quality and the environment.
Benefits
- Improve air quality and filter sock efficiency
- Reduce abrasion and heat fatigue of filter socks
- Extend the life of filter socks
- Reduce downtime and maintenance needed in confined spaces
- Reduce costly replacement of filter socks
